Business energy contracts

What your electricity and gas agreements cover.

A business energy contract normally sets the unit rate, standing charge, contract length, payment method and other supplier terms for a specific supply point. Electricity and gas are usually separate contracts, even when they are reviewed at the same time.

01

Business electricity

We review each electricity supply and the available supplier options for that site.

02

Business gas

We check the gas supply details, annual usage and available contract options through our intermediary.

03

Fixed-term contracts

The agreed unit rate is normally fixed for a set period, while some taxes, levies or permitted charges may still change.

04

Separate supply contracts

Each meter, fuel and premises may have different suppliers, contract dates and commercial terms.

Contract renewals

Start early enough to understand the options.

We recommend checking your contract approximately six months before it ends. The exact renewal and termination window depends on the supplier and contract terms, so an early review gives you more time without being rushed.

Deemed and out-of-contract rates

If a fixed contract ends without a replacement, or a business moves into premises without agreeing a contract, the supply may continue on deemed, variable or out-of-contract terms. These rates can be different from an agreed fixed-term contract.

The right next step depends on the supplier, the existing contract and any change-of-tenancy evidence. Draco can help you identify the information required before comparing available options.

Letter of Authority

Permission to obtain information—not to agree a contract.

Where required, Draco will ask you to sign a limited Letter of Authority. It allows Draco and our intermediary to request contract or meter information and communicate with suppliers on your behalf.

A Letter of Authority does not allow Draco to agree a new energy contract without your approval.

The validity period and permitted actions are stated on the document. We explain its scope before asking you to sign it, and you can contact us if you would like the authority withdrawn.

COMPARE YOUR OPTIONS

See the full picture, not just the unit rate.

We compare available options based on price, contract length, payment terms and estimated annual cost, then explain the differences clearly so you can choose what works for your business.

  • Key costs and contract terms explained clearly
