Working with Draco
What does a business energy broker do?
A business energy broker helps businesses understand their energy contracts, obtain quotations and compare available supplier options. Draco also helps explain contract terms, renewal dates and the information suppliers require.
Learn about Draco’s business energy serviceDoes Draco charge a separate consultancy fee?
You do not pay Draco a separate consultancy fee. If you arrange a contract through us, Draco and/or our intermediary receive commission from the energy supplier. This commission may be included in the rates or commercial terms offered.
Read how Draco is paidCan I find out how much commission Draco receives?
Yes. We will explain how Draco is paid and you may request details of the commission expected in connection with your contract.
Read our commission disclosureDoes commission determine which option Draco recommends?
Our aim is to present suitable available options based on your business requirements, usage, contract timing and supplier terms. We will explain the commercial arrangement so that you can make an informed decision.
Am I required to accept a quotation?
No. There is no obligation to accept a quotation. You decide whether any of the available options are suitable for your business.
What information does Draco need?
We will normally ask for a recent bill and some basic business information. This may include your business name, supply address, current supplier, contract end date, annual usage, MPAN or MPRN, payment method and authorised contact details.
Contracts and renewals
When should I review my business energy contract?
We recommend checking your contract approximately six months before it ends. The exact renewal and termination window depends on your supplier and contract terms, so starting early gives you more time to understand the available options without being rushed.

Depending on your existing terms, your supplier may move the account onto deemed, out-of-contract, variable or rollover terms. These arrangements may be less competitive than a negotiated fixed-term contract, so it is advisable to review your position before the current contract ends.
Is there a cooling-off period?
Most business energy contracts do not provide a cooling-off period. You should therefore read and understand the quotation and contract terms before agreeing. Any supplier-specific cancellation right will be stated in the relevant contract.
Can I leave my business energy contract early?
Business energy contracts are usually fixed-term agreements and suppliers may not allow an early switch. Any termination rights, charges or exceptions depend on your contract and circumstances. We can help you check the relevant terms, but we cannot guarantee that a contract can be ended early.
Can I stay with my current supplier?
Yes. Where available through our process, Draco can include an offer from your existing supplier alongside other available options. You remain free to choose the option that best suits your business.
Can I arrange electricity and gas together?
We can review both electricity and gas, but they are normally arranged as separate supply contracts and may have different suppliers, prices and end dates.
Moving premises
What happens when I move into new business premises?
Take opening meter readings as soon as you receive the keys and identify the existing supplier. Until a new contract is agreed, the premises may be supplied under deemed rates. Draco can help you review the available options once the relevant business and meter details are available.
What is a change of tenancy?
A change of tenancy records that responsibility for the energy supply has moved from one business occupier to another. Suppliers normally require evidence such as a lease, completion document or business details before updating the account.
Aftercare
What happens after my contract is arranged?
We will confirm the key contract details and remain available if you have questions during the supplier onboarding or switching process. We can also help direct contract-related enquiries and plan ahead for your next renewal.
Will changing supplier interrupt my energy supply?
A supplier change is an administrative process and normally does not require changes to the physical gas or electricity supply. Delays or objections can still occur, and we will help you understand any information provided by the suppliers involved.
